  • What is a 4WD Tag Along Tour Adventure ?

    A tour where you bring your own vehicle, camping gear and self cater your own food.

    Your guide will

    • escort you

    • organise the detailed itinerary based on local knowledge and over 25 years of experience travelling the outback

    • arrange all permits

    • arrange all unpowered camp sites

    • arrange all included tour experiences

    • coach you on 4WD skills

    • tyre change and mechanical assistance

    • satellite phone and internet access while in camp

    Ultimately providing peace of mind and you will be travelling with a guide who knows the region.

  • How do I make the most of my trip ?

    Enjoying your trip is about making sure the driver and participants are well rested.

    This means you need to make sure you have comfortable sleeping arrangements. Make sure your sleeping arrangements work for you before leaving home. Once you are on the road it will be difficult to purchase additional bedding in most remote locations.

    Secondly, you need to ensure your suspension is suitable for extended travel in rough dirt road conditions.

    Make sure your vehicle is in the best mechanical condition possible. Tyres should have at least 50% of their tread.

    A well serviced 4WD will maximise your enjoyment and minimise time worrying and fixing vehicle issues.

    You will be asked to have a mechanical pre trip inspection signed off by your mechanic before joining the trip.

  • What is a typical day like on a 4WD Tag Along Adventure ?

    We aim to leave around 8 am in the morning and set up camp in the mid afternoon, so you can enjoy your surrounds at the end of the day.

    The convoy travels together from location to location and drives to the conditions on hand and within speed limits.

    Most days are broken up with multiple stops to explore points of interest and enjoy tour experiences.

    There are regular rest days where you can choose to do what you would like.

    In some locations you will have the choice to participate in additional activities like scenic helicopter flights or fishing charters at your own cost.

  • Can I bring my off-road camper trailer ?

    Yes, you can bring your off road camper trailer.

    There is one exception, in East Arnhem Land, where the local family does not want anything towed because it is too difficult.

    In this situation you will need to plan to camp for 2 nights. There is a camp kitchen available and we will work with you to organise refrigerated transport of any fresh food.

    Usually we are able to set up bedding on an open deck on the beach and enjoy the stunning views of this homeland.

  • Can I bring my off road Caravan ?

    In the Kimberley there will be a couple of locations where you are not permitted dual axle off-road caravans or the track is simply not suitable. I have designed alternative arrangements for parking up to ensure you can visit all points of interest as part of an adjust itinerary.

  • What assistance is provided to assistance with trip preparation ?

  • Do I need to know how to drive a 4WD ?

    No. As well as having deep 4WD experience travelling outback Australia. Your guide is also a qualified Cert 4 Trainer and Assessor and is there to assistance in building your confidence, driving your 4WD within it’s limits to ensure you have an awesome trip.

  • How can I stay in touch with my family ?

    See Around Corners will provide a website link for you to send to your families. They will be able to see where you are at any time of the day.

    Access to the Satelite phone can be made available on a cost recovery basis.

    Internet access will be available at night using starlink

  • What if I don’t have a 4WD ?

    Contact us and we will put you in touch with a hire company that will provide a 4WD be suitable for this trip.

  • What about safety and contact with the outside world ??

    In addition to being a qualified first aider and carrying a first aid kit.

    Your guide carries a Satelite phone with access to Emergency services at the press of a button.

  • What should you look for in a professional guide ?

    You should look at your guide’s experience, there accreditation and how they keep up with their professional development and base skills including senior and remote area first aid.

    Minimum accreditation should be through Savannah Guides and Tour Guides Australia. As well as region specific certification for Kakadu, Uluru-Kata Tjuta and Watarrka National Parks.
